Dr. Alejandro Elias, Superintendent
Dr. Elias is a proud PSJA ISD alum and a passionate educator with many years of experience. After graduating from PSJA High School in 1988, he attended the University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA), where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Arts Degree in Secondary Education. He later earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M University-Kingsville in 2018. During his tenure at PSJA ISD, Dr. Elias has served as a Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, and now Superintendent of Schools.
Dr. Elias has sought the expansion of many projects at PSJA ISD including opening the first exclusive PK3-K campus, PSJA Building Blocks Academy, to strengthen foundational academic skills at a young age. He created a Sustainability Department to close the knowledge gap in literacy through a skills-focused approach, which enhances knowledge through experience. He has ensured that Career and Technical Education (CTE) is at the forefront, allowing students to choose from over 27 fields of study and earn a certificate at the PSJA Career and Technical Education Academy. PSJA also embarked on continued efforts to support, guide, and graduate former and dropout students by reopening the doors of the PSJA College, Career, and Technology Academy. Additionally, PSJA opened the PSJA Ballew Learning Center in partnership with South Texas College to guide, enroll, and graduate parents from across the community in various fields of study offered at the location. This program was created to combat poverty through educating parents. These initiatives reflect the core motto of PSJA ISD of providing “Opportunities for All.”
Dr. Elias is proud to be part of the PSJA Family and is passionate about working to provide all students with the best opportunities possible through districtwide efforts and collaborative partnerships for student success.
